Ecclesiology Project 1982-1990 Ecclesiology

INTRODUCTORY COMMENTS

On May 12, 1982, BRICOM voted to undertake a series of studies in ecclesiology.  It was not until 1988 that a list of subjects was put together and the writers selected.  The project developed at a very slow pace.  The main reason for this was that BRICOM had to spend most of its time and resources addressing two other important theological issues of interest to the world church.  One of the issues was the sanctuary and prophetic interpretation, which resulted in a series of books called “Daniel and Revelation Committee Series.”  The other topic, which required the production of a significant amount of papers for discussion, was the role of women in the church.  These two issues overshadowed the ecclesiology project to the point that it was never finished.
The collection of papers found here reached the stages of semi-final editing, but not all of them became ready for publication.  Although some of them are outdated, we consider them to be an important contribution to Adventist ecclesiology, and consequently we are now making them available to you.  The papers will be added to the website as soon as we have them in electronic form.  The views expressed are those of the author and not necessarily those of the Biblical Research Institute.
